Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Tuesday alleged that the AAP government misused public funds for self-promotion during financial year 2021-22, giving reference to findings in the CAG report on its advertising expenditures.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that during the financial year 2021-22, while the country was battling the COVID-19 crisis, the then Arvind Kejriwal-led government misused public funds under the pretext of four schemes including, Business Blasters Scheme, for which it allocated Rs 54.08 crore and the money spent on its promotion was Rs 80.02 crore.

The second scheme he mentioned was ‘Desh ke Mentors’ for which the money allocated was Rs 1.90 crore, while the amount allegedly spent on its promotions was Rs 27.90 crore.

Similarly, for the Smog Tower project, the main expense was Rs 20 crore, while the amount spent on promotion of the same was Rs 5.88 crore, the BJP chief claimed.

Lastly, the BJP leader mentioned the Parali Management Scheme, for which the AAP government spent Rs 27.89 crore for its promotion, which was much higher than the basic amount allotted for the scheme.

Sachdeva further said that the people of the city now expect answers from Kejriwal regarding these revelations.

The BJP leader said that Kejriwal must step forward and respond to the four questions raised by the CAG report, and claimed that these are enough to expose the AAP chief.

On Monday, the Delhi BJP chief, citing parts of the CAG report on ‘Sheesh Mahal’ bungalow construction and renovation, had alleged a scam in the same.

Sachdeva also questioned why Kejriwal and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi have allegedly avoided making the CAG reports public in the legislative assembly.

The BJP leader further stated that despite the court’s reprimand, the Delhi government has not tabled the CAG reports in the assembly, which he claimed, clearly shows Kejriwal’s fear of it.

Sachdeva challenged AAP leaders Kejriwal, Atishi and Sanjay Singh to convene an assembly session, table the report publicly, and engage in a debate with the BJP on the same.
